NaNoWriMo Day TWENTY TWOLeaning against the older boy, Jason felt safe and comforted for the time being. He was calm enough that he didn't feel the sickening urge to look for his mother. He just had to trust that she was on board and that she was safe. He wanted to run to the edge of the ship and peer over the edge to check how many people remained in the loading room. He wanted to believe that there were none and that he could not doubt that his mother was on the ship, but he simply needed to look. At the same time, however, he was too afraid to look, for multiple reasons. One of these was that he didn't think that he could walk to the rail by himself. HNaNoWriMo Day TWENTY TWO
NaNoWriMo Day TWENTY ONE"Alright, Leroy, then." Alicia smiled and dipped her head in his direction, "Would you like to tell us about your ship while you're here?" The man chuckled and nodded, turning toward his ship, hands on his hips, "I suppose I could. I like talking about her." He walked forward and placed a hand on the ship, leaning against it, "She's a fourteen year old custom built personal carrier. My father and I built her in the garage when I was a boy." Leroy smiled distantly, "You saw how she opens. We did that a little special. Most ships have doors." He led the couple around to the back of the small ship and gestured to a plate near thNaNoWriMo Day TWENTY ONE
NaNoWriMo Day TWENTYHe and his mother circled around the entirety of the ship until they came across another arched hall leading out of the loading area. They turned and followed the corridor toward the blinding light of day on the other side. All around them were the same intricate designs and elaborate columns that decorated the whole city. As they stepped out of the long hallway they were greeted with a huge paved expanse, on which sat several ships of various shapes and sizes. Some of these were small enough to be personal transport vehicles while others were the size of the Valencour and a select few were even larger. Jason's mind reeled at the sNaNoWriMo Day TWENTY
NaNoWriMo Day NINETEENHe smiled as he ate his food, happy to finally have something that had flavor to it. When the mother and son pair had finished eating, Alicia paid Tock and they said their goodbyes and left the small establishment. Overhead, yet another airship made its way lazily across the sky. Alicia pointed it out to her son and he told her of the one that he had seen earlier that day. The city buildings were so numerous and densely packed together that the two of them couldn't quite make out the entire silhouette of the ship and had to imagine how the borders of the craft were laid out. Jason watched it go, wondering what the practicalitNaNoWriMo Day NINETEEN
